How to view and export a patient's Observation History
A patient’s Observation History provides a record of all observations taken and any changes made to a patient’s observation level(s), risk factors, room changes, and other patient details over the past 72 hours.
You can view a patient’s Observation History in two ways:
- By selecting “Observation History” on the Patient Overview page.
- Selecting the individual’s name on the 24-Hour Overview page or on the Observation Round page after logging into the Oxevision Observations.
Step-by-step guidance on how to view and export a patient’s Observation History in all four scenarios is provided below. For details on how to export the observation histories of multiple patients, or a single patient’s Observation History covering more than the last 72-hour period, please refer to the ‘How to export multiple patients’ extended Observation History’ module.
Viewing a patient’s Observation History via the Patient Configuration page
Step 1: Select the patient’s room tile on the Room Overview page.
Step 2: Select the patient’s name on the Room Actions menu.
Step 3: On the Patient Overview page, select the “Observations History” button to view the patient’s Observation History.
Please note: If you view a patient’s Observation History when you have low/no wifi, a notification will appear at the top of the page, for example, that “Your device has low wifi connectivity - information may not be up to date”. If this occurs, please move into an area with sufficient wifi connectivity before viewing a patient’s Observation History.
Viewing a patient’s Observation History via the 24-Hour Overview page
Step 1: Select “Observation Round” on the Room Overview page.
Step 2: Selecting the patient’s name on the 24-Hour Overview page will allow you to view the patient’s Observation History.
Viewing a patient’s Observation History after logging into Oxevision Observations via the Observation Round page
Step 1: When you have logged into Oxevision Observations you will be taken to the Observation Round page. A patient’s Observation History can be viewed by selecting the relevant patient’s name on this page.
Exporting a patient's Observation History
To export a patient’s Observation History as a PDF document, select the “Export Report” button when viewing their Observation History.
You will need to select a recipient from the dropdown list and a reason for exporting before selecting “Confirm Export”.
A confirmation message will be displayed on the screen to confirm the Observation History has been exported.
View an Exported Observation History Using Egress
All Observation History reports are sent to approved recipient/s via Egress. Egress is an email security platform that encrypts and protects data being shared.
Step 1: Report recipients will need to create a free Egress account before any exported observation reports can be viewed - to see how to do this please click the link, to see the Egress how to page.
Step 2: When an Oxevision Observations report is sent manually or automatically, the report recipient will receive an email notification from Egress that they have received a secure email from secure-comms@oxehealth.com.
Step 3: Upon receiving an email notification from secure-comms@oxehealth.com, users will have to open the email, click the link and log in to their Egress account to be able to view and/or download the email and attached report.
Please note: When exporting a patient’s Observation History in this way you will only export the observation history for the previous 72 hours. If you wish to export the patient’s Observation History over a longer period than 72 hours, please refer to the ‘How to export multiple patients’ extended Observation History’ module.
You must be trained to use the system. Your Oxehealth Ward Lead can arrange this for you – or ask your manager.
